Smoked Fish Pâté
My love for this pâté started years ago. I believe I saw someone on TV make this, and recently looked it up at Epicurious where I found this recipe using smoked blue fish. It’s a pretty simple recipe. Take some smoked fish, mix with some cream cheese, add some shallots, chives and lemon juice, and enjoy.
Besides being absolutely delicious, this is a great way to get some good Omega 3 fats without having to take your chances with fish oil supplements.
After Richard Morris and I recorded an episode of our 2 Keto Dudes podcast focused on the stress of holidays dealing with non-keto family members (and friends) in which I brought this recipe to the table, I went to the store with a mission to get some smoked blue fish. Unfortunately, they didn’t have any and instead I went home with smoked salmon. You know, smoked salmon and cream cheese – they go well together.
On the podcast, Richard mentioned this would taste good on a cheese crisp with a small dollop of sour cream and a little fresh dill weed. Of course, I had to go right home and do some research. The result? OMG! These are definitely my go-to appetizer whenever I have people over for dinner.

- Mix everything in a food processor until well combined. Additionally, you can add something sautéd from the onion family: shallot, onion, etc., and salt/pepper to taste.
I make this with smoked salmon, sautéing sliced green onions in butter first and then stirring in flaked salmon, then blending in a food processor with 4 oz cream cheese and 4 oz softened unsalted butter and 2 tsp lemon juice but also 2 Tb vodka. The butter makes it lighter when it firms up and then melts in your mouth.
Sounds absolutely delicious. Thanks!
I tried Smoked Herring the other day, and I loved them. This sounds like it would be fantastic.
